How we work

How a typical job runs

Pre-hang check, hang, corner bead, tape and coat, sand or texture, punch, paint-ready handoff. No mystery steps.

  1. 01

    Pre-hang check

We walk framing, moisture, electrical boxes, and HVAC boots before board goes up. Problems found here are cheap. Problems found after mud are not.

  2. 02

    Hang

ASTM C1396 gypsum board — 1/2", 5/8", Type X, moisture-resistant, or lightweight — chosen for the wall, not whatever is on the truck. Fastener pattern and joints planned, not improvised.

  3. 03

    Corner bead

Outside corners and returns get bead that will survive real life, set straight so the coats have a line to follow.

  4. 04

    Tape & coat

Joints and angles taped, then coated to the specified finish level. Dry time is not optional. Humidity decides the calendar more than we do.

  5. 05

    Sand / texture

Sand to the level, then texture if the room calls for it. Level 5 gets a full skim before this step, not a heavier sand.

  6. 06

    Punch

We hunt fastener pops, holidays, and bad beads with raking light — the same way a picky painter will.

  7. 07

    Paint-ready handoff

You get walls and ceilings ready for primer and paint. Paint is not included unless we wrote it into the bid. The handoff is a walkthrough, not a text that says “done.”

Finishes

Level 4 is the standard. Level 5 is the exception — on purpose.

Most homes want GA-214 Level 4: three coats, paint-ready, honest under flat or eggshell. True Level 5 is a full skim of the entire surface. We recommend it when grazing light, dark color, or gloss will tell on every joint — and we will talk you out of it when they will not.

FAQ

Straight answers before you call

How much does drywall cost?+

Use the price calculator on this site for a planning number from square feet, ceiling height, and finish level. That is an estimate, not a bid. Access, repairs, texture, occupancy, and what we find on site still change the job. We measure, then we write a price. Call or text 320-296-9758.

How does the price calculator work?+

Enter the square feet to be finished, pick 8 ft, 9 ft, or over 9 ft ceilings, and pick a finish level from 1 to 5. The calculator returns a planning price. It is not a contract. We still walk the house before we bid.

How long does a typical room or house take?+

A small repair can be same-day or the next day. A single room that needs hang and finish is often 2–4 days including dry time. A whole house follows the build schedule; finish work commonly spans one to two weeks depending on size, coats, and weather. Joint compound has to dry. We will not torch a Level 4 to hit a fake Friday.

Do I need Level 5?+

Need is the wrong word for most rooms. If you have grazing window light, a skylight washing a long wall, dark paint, or anything glossier than eggshell, Level 5 is the honest recommendation. If the room is a typical living space with flat or eggshell and a light orange peel, Level 4 is the right standard — and we will say so.
